Book Blogger Hop + Follow Friday!

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books!

This Weeks Question:

How do you spread the word about your site?

My Answer:

Ummm.... *Looks away*

I don't know. I actually have an issue with spreading the word because I always feel so bad doing it. I don't want to seem like, "Hey! Look at me! I'm over here!! I have reviews! Come look!"

That's what I don't want and sometimes, I feel like that's what I'm doing. I don't feel I really do a good job at spreading the word if that's what I am doing, I mean it was more than a year before I had 100 followers.

Primarily though I have now started posting on Twitter and I do Blog Hop and Follow Friday. That's how I spread the word right now. I'm sure there are a ton of people who spread the word wonderfully, but I like to sit back and hide in the corner. I love followers, and I love comments and discussions, but I'm constantly afraid any type of promotion I do could be Spam... and I despise Spam.

Follow Friday is hosted by the awesome Parajunkee at Parajunkee's View

If you're here from the Hop or Follow Friday be sure to let me know so I can come see your blog! If you follow, be sure to let me know!

Comments are my form of happy. :)

My first time at your blog. Looks good. I am terrible at self promotion, but I keep plugging away.

I spread the word through Hops too. I probably say this in every comment but your new blog "face lift" looks incredible. I "oh" and "ah" every time your blog loads up. Have an awesome weekend!

Just hoppin' on by! <3

I think I love you because of your answer. Why? I feel the exact same way! I'm a horrid networker. I feel so transparent when I tweet or "advertise" on Facebook. I think people will see how my posts and go, "Oh, obvious social network attempt". I prefer the nice corner too.

Followed for being my [almost] twin. :)

Happy HOP! ((hugs)) I'm perfectly content to sit in a corner and it's been a hard thing to kinda step forward. In the back of my mind I think the same thoughts but I think taking part in the weekly memes have helped alot. When you're always seeing the same wonderful people it's alot easier to be a little bold and say "Hi everyone, come see what I've been up to" Do whatever makes you comfortable :)I've been meaning to tell you too that I LOVE your header.

Come HOP by my blog and visit

Hey Christina,

Just stopping on by from the Hop. I tend to agree with your issue of spreading the word I feel a bit awkward but I do like to comment on posts because I know I like to receive comments. I'm not on Twitter yet I'm considering it, I'm just not sure.

Have a great weekend :)

See, I feel that if I'm doing the hop, and I stop by someone's blog and read what they have to say, then there's nothing wrong with linking back to my blog... I figure, if anything, it makes it easier on them if they actually want to come check it out (I hate hunting down links and appreciate when people put these on my blog)

But then, I'm also someone who feels the need to actually READ what other people post, and not just hop from blog to blog saying "Great Post! Check out mine!" and nothing else. It's obvious to me those people don't even read my blog.

Alas! :)

Stop by and check out my Book Blogger Hop, Follow Friday and Giveaway!

Happy Friday!! Thank goodness for this book hop -- I am finding so many blogs that I want to follow and keep up with -- yours included!! I agree with you about spreading the word about my blog. I also don't want to be like "look at me! look! look!", but I do want people to find my blog and read/enjoy it. I think that these events like the Book Hop really help new bloggers out there.

I hope you will hop by my blog at some point today.

Have a great weekend, and happy reading!

I'm an old follower, though I just joined your twitter account. Just wanted to let you know I'm in the castle to the right. But you got the one with the best view. With the economy the way it is, we just couldn't afford yours!

I answered Parajunkee's question about Books that did it for me. Anything that takes me to another world!

No, see that's your back terrace where the servants sit. Your front terrace is much grander. You get to turn your back to your silly neighbors trying to keep up with the Joneses, but you have about a million steps down to the beach. It's how you keep in shape for Prince Charming! But we're friends. Because it is Happily Ever After!! (There's not much going on in my castle. My prince is watching t.v. but my library might be interesting???? Maybe those guys on the cover come alive at night?? Yeah, I think they do!

I have similar feelings about blatant promotion of my blog.

Happy weekend. Come see how I use the social networks.

I agree with your views on networking. It just isn't really my kind of thing. The blog hop is fun though, so I do that! :)

Hopping in from the book hop and Friday follow. Christina, WOW, your blog is beautiful. That header makes me just want to sit and stare at it. Like I could get lost in the story behind it. *sigh*
I pretty much suck at networking, but I do try to leave comments because I love them on my blog. I feel like others would like it too. I'm a new follower and can't wait for what you post next!

I'm stopping by from the hops and am now a new follower!

With regards to spreading the word, the way I find a balance is by doing two things- 1) to only promote stuff that I feel really strongly about, and 2) to limit promotions to posts like these that are all about networking, or to posts that are relevant to the topic at hand.

Like so! I'm currently spreading the word that every comment on my blog during the month of October will not only qualify you for great prizes, but also helps to raise money for the Room to Read Girls' Education Program. I hope to see you there and definitely have a great weekend! :D
