Why Fairys just aren't my thing.

The fairy poet takes a sheetOf moonbeam, silver white; His ink is dew from daisies sweet,His pen a point of light.~Joyce Kilmer

We all know that currently within the book world there are trends, vampires, werewolves, faeries, pixies, zombies etc. They all can be accounted for recently and normally I'm okay with them. I deal with trends and get fun reads from them, but I have found myself trying and trying to enjoy one trend and I just cant.

Fairys. (Faeries?)

I have tried and tried and tried, but I'm sorry I just cant seem to like them.

I've been thinking about this a lot today and I've come to a new conclusion. I think that I'm not a big trend person. Yes, I can enjoy them but I don't buy into them. The only vampire books I ever read were the Twilight series and Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side and then Shiver and Linger were the only Werewolf ones so maybe I just don't do trends.

I love paranormal and fantasy but I think originality is key with me. All of the Faery books I have read (or tried to read) all read the same to me, and maybe I just haven't picked up the right one, but I have yet to feel real emotions and I have to feel emotions.

I have been reading constantly for the past few weeks and I've read a lot of really amazing books, but each time I tried that particular fantasy genre I got to page 70 and couldn't take it anymore.

Maybe it has something to do with the way they're presented? Or the same Winter and Summer court thing but getting into them just seem impossible.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but perhaps they're just not for me, but leave a comment if you know of a fairy book (or amazing book in general) that may get me out of this.

Oh my gosh, I feel exactly the same way. People always say how good these fairy books are but it's hard for me to get into them because they're just so unrealistic. Thanks for this post.

You're welcome, and I know I agree. I just got a new one, I'm not ready to give up on this trend yet but so far I haven't been able to get into any of them, they all seem like they have the same story line to me.
